In "Dr. Laura Links Religious Declaration with Pedophilia Debate," appearing in the Faith Communities section of the February 2000 issue of Philia, the author of the article stated that Laura Schlessinger had summarized "A Religious Declaration on Sexual Morality, Justice and Healing" as saying, "No matter what sex you are, no matter what age you are, no matter what marital status you are, no matter what sexual orientation you are, you have a right to sex." In actual fact, these words were a quotation from Deborah Hafner, former president of the organization issuing the declaration, the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SEICUS). The error arose from the author's use of a poorly edited version of Laura Schlessiner's article on this topic. The full article is linked below. Philia apologizes for the error.
U.S.: Dr. Laura Links Religious Declaration with Pedophilia Debate. Laura Schlessinger, an Orthodox Jew whose radio talk show is popular among conservative Christians, has stated in a New York Times editorial that an interfaith "Religious Declaration on Sexual Morality, Justice, and Healing" promotes the sexualization of children.
